My Top 25 of Rock Concerts

25 - Motorhead - Stage Fright (2005)

Was a great band. It is a justice that this three brothers are in concerts gallery. Stage Frigh was one of the best film concerts in XXI century. But the band rock and stage energy were much significant in the 80's and the 90's. Lemmy was in the 60's and the rest of the group seems tired from a long road. Insted of the problems was a good concert.

24 - Sepultura - Live in Barcelona - (1991)

Great stuff from the 4 original Sepultura. I saw them on the Arise Tour and has very good. Better sound and film and probably this will be in a more higher place. The energy is a blast and the interaction with the public very cool. Too bad that Max in shoort time will go out from the band and the sound never was the same.

23 - Hollywood Vampires - Rock in Rio - (Rio de Janeiro - 2015)

We are talking about a group of friends that generation after generation, reunites and play some music. And this is an elite band, with names like Alice Cooper, Joe Perry or J. Deep, with other rotation members like Matt Sorum or  Duff M. See them on concert, in Rock in Rio and on a tour is unique. Maybe in future with more original music, but remember this is a bunch of friends who reunited to play Rock and Roll from time to time. They have other "professions", you know.

22- Metallica - Rock in Rio (Lisbon - 2004)

Is one of the most professional bands in the world. I never saw a bad Metallica concert and the band make the early days on the road. Lisbon his a frequent stop for them, in festivals or in Atlantico Arena. With this new album, will be the same. Somewere in 2017 will have them in this year. Aerosmith and Guns and Roses are already confirmed 2017 dates.

21 - Poison - Swallow this Live (1991)

By this time Poison was the best live band of L.A. zone and one of the most important american groups on the road. This concert is the prove and it is pure energy with four guys jumping and screeming in about an hour of live music. Too bad the sound and production were weak (also of the live album so the band put in some studio tracks), and the band was with some problems with the members (Dall and CC were in the pole position), or the rank will be much higher.

20 - Placebo - Soulmates never die - Live in Paris - (2003)

I'm not a huge fan of Placebo but this is a masterpiece. The right place, a good audience and a massive production and there's it is. Imortal. A power rock live recording in a iconic city named Paris, made a midium band a large sucess with an public that is good but is not a blast and were three brothers were very happy. Glad they made this video and that people who like music can see him over and over again.

19 - Rammstein - Berlin - (2016)

If you dont't like Rammstein that's ok. It's heavy, german and loud, but there are "two sides of every story, like Extreme said". First this band have great and frendly humans, and the shows are some of unique. It is a visual blast to see this group and whe area so absorved by details of the act that we forget about the music. Great stuff, for shore.

18 - Def Leppard - Live in Denver - (Round on your Face - 1988)

This "Live in Denver" is good for many reasons, The place, the crowd, the stage, the band and of course the audience (girls, girls and more girls). The problem was several images from this concert were used in videos for songs from the Album. Of course when whe see the concert and respective sound is nothing to do with the MTV promo-videos. It's bad, and a great live film is in 18 th place for that. Never play with thw public at home.

17 - Kiss - Live in Brooklyn Bridge - Reunion Tour (Mtv awards - 1996)

Great live performance with Kiss in part of the reunion tour.  Live in Brooklyn Bridge with four New York bros who begin their sucess in that city and of course with live concerts (the sucess to Kiss came with a duble live album). To bad was just a mini concert (about hal an hour) and that there's several mistakes in the execution of music, with "Rock all Night" being in VHS tape of MTV Music Awards (original, with mistakes).

16 - Megadeth - Live at Hellfest - Clisson (2016)

There are much critics who don't like Megadeth live but for me they are not a bad band.  The stage impact is not for example like Slayer (how!!!) but their fine with some good video performances. One was in Rock in Rio and other was after the return of Dave Mustaine after the harm problems. I choose the Hellfest because is a blast, by Kiko, Elfelson and a much more older Dave. Not bad for a band that in the bigining of 2015 was at risk to end.

15 - Green Day - MTV Live in Italy - (2005)

I have all the albuns from Green Day. It was a freesh punk band in the 90's and since them i allways like their job in music,  live performance and sense of humor, in intervews or for example in Guns and Roses Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not a problem big staduim and arenas, but major Green Day performance are in small rooms. like this MTV Live in Italy. Cool band with 3 bros saying: "Punk is not dead".

14 - Scorpions - Live in Moscow - (Peace Festival  - 1989)

For years since 1989 portuguese TV guive this concert over and over again. It was impossible not to like, from Crue to Ozzy or Cinderella to Bon Jovi, in a massive stadium with a crazy audience. Most of the live performance were daylight and i remember that Scorpions strarted to play by the evening and was very nice, with lights and the band energy marige in perfection with the massive audience and madness. Somewere i iave the record VHS, but today is all in youtube.

13 - DRI - Live at the Ritz (1988)

In this days everybody had a skateboard (or surfboard) and listening to DRI (or SOD, MOD, etc, etc) in the walkman or in the record player. The hardcore band was very famous in those days, and live at the Ritz was the prove: A very intense and solid performance for a group of kids with balls for that audience in a room named Ritz. To bad that in 1995 they made the last album of original songs (in 2005 was a live on).

12 - Anthrax - Live at Hammersmith (1987)

Another great VHS edition in the 80's was this "Live at Hammersmith" by the Anthrax. The band always had great musicians and a great live performance but this edition was the top of the gear, with Frank, Scott, Belladona and company made one epic concert in this famous London theatre. If the image and sound were better they were in other location in this scale, but the remastered edition is late.

11 - Skid Row - Live at Budokan Hall (1992)

I understand that Budokan is almost sacred to japonese, but i didn't see great concerts and the space for me it´s like portuguese "Campo Pequeno". Skid Row was also a band that had make all to be sucess, but live it seems not enough. So, this live performance in Japan (a dificult audience) was in fact nice. After the EP and with this great songs plus the band usual staff, make a good surprise at the 90's.  And what about the F..ing reunion man???

10 - Heaven and Hell - Live at Rockpalast 2009

Dio and Black Sabbath were great, epic, a blast, and so one. After the legal problems the band do the correct movement and make the tour with another name (Heaven and Hell, the name of this famous album). It is true that was not the most animated show, but the mistique and the knowledge to other musicians doesn't have a price. Deserved the 10th place.

9 - The Cult - Live in Los Angeles (2001)

There´s a significant contribution for the world of music from "The Cult", with albums from pop-rock to grunge influênce, passing from hardrock and pure rock. Live, we are talking about a very strong band in presence but with a simple show in lights and other stuff. It´s all the music an in this "Live in L.A." we can see how this group play. To bad there's always only 2 or 3 band members and there's not much big live arenas with filming edited, but Cult is Cult.

8- Guns and Roses - Live at the Ritz (1988)

This "Live at the Ritz" in 1988 (yes, the Ritz again..lol) his the reason why Guns and Roses became so famous.  A savage hard rock concert, with a few lights, no chorus or pyro, just 5 insane gunners in the stage with their instruments, play like hell and give a blast of a show with almoust 100% original music.  Other concerts like in W. and Go-Go or the Troubator were also great, but this for the time was a great camera realisation.

7 - Ynxs - Live baby Live - Wembley Stadium (13 July 1991)

Not a great fan of pop-rock but for some bands are special, and YNXZ is one of them. "Live baby Live" was the "top of fame" with this australian band after the sucess of an album and the tour that follow, with about 2 years on the road. Funny and simple, was the group in a stadium like Wembley and is all in record and film to history. In years to came the dead of Michael H. will bring the band to a high level of obscurity.

6 - Ac/Dc - Recall Donington - (Monsters of Rock -17 November 1991)

One of the best hard rock bands in live is Ac/Dc, with Young and Brian J. (or Axl Rose..lol), and a unique sound, lights, pyro and great giant dools. Lisbon or Munique, the show is at high level, with full house, good music in a original atmosphere. Donington is a place for the big ones, an as we see, the australian band is like a fish in the water. After a great album and one of the best formations pf the group, what better to complete the staff than this mitic place?

5 - Depeche Mode - 101 Live (Passdena - Rose Bowl 1988)

Probably one of the best live album/movies that i ever seen. It was true "Music for the masses" and everybody listening and see this 4 musicians doing a great show in Pasadena. A blast sound in a great production and with a master direction, were colour and black and white are in a mix and perfect mariage with the stage and the band. The perfect sound and performance is not acomplish by the space and public, that maybe in UK, Portugal, Spain or Brasil were diferent. But it is great and wild anyway.

4 - Led Zeppelin  - Celebration Day - (2012)

In one nigh Led Zeppelin is back in action, with John Boham replaced by is son Jason Boham. The result is to good to be true, and makes me question: Why the f..k this guys don't make a reunion tour, an album or something than just one concert? A generation of fans, hard rock lovers and music apreciators want and deserved to see this great band live and with such a power and a 5 star performance. The fourt place is by the frustration and i'm not the biggest fan...

3- Iron Maiden - Live after Death - (Long Beach Arena - 1986)

It is difficult to talk about this album, video, record, cd and so on, were the diferences are from one to the other, in music, ediction and other stuff. Live after Death is a dictionary for who likes music and have the live adiction, where there´s a new detail in inch time whe see or listening the band live in Long Beach. To 1986 is excellent in all the aspects, from sound to image, passing by pyro and lights and in the end a massive response by the public. It's funny becouse in this to years tour there was lots of great concerts, being this one of them.

2 - Ramones - It's Alive -  (The Rainbow - 31 December 1977)

Almost 40 years and still is a top live concert and album, with a magic place, a simbolic date of the last hours of 1977, a wild crowd and a simple but fantastic band named Ramones. The rest is history, and the prove that 4 guys made a influence in punk and general music because they were great, have lots of talent and were a respected family. John, Joey, Tommy and Dee Dee Ramone, i salute you all and thanks for this and for all what you have done in the music.

1- The Cure - "Show" - (Paris, Whish Tour - 1992)

Top. The best of the best. Work in this movie, album and live concert is wonderful, from direction to the band music, better than in the studio. Smith and is band prove to the world in Paris that they are one of the world most cool live bands, and only with lights and images (no pyro). Gothic or Rock, a true masterpice 24 years ago, but that is so from this century. A blast with all perfect, from the musicians to the public. Still is my favourite. And probably will be for many years.

L.A. Guns another version?

Ok, Tracii Guns and Phill are back again. But the rest of the band, well, there´s no rest. Strange? But there's a contrat sign for an Album. Great. Or not? Peculiar, is the word.

I like very much LA Guns from the final 80's and inicial 90's. The two reunion albuns in this century are not so good, but have some great stuff. The rest is not bad but is very different from the original band.

But, for me Cinderella are right to do the pact. If one don't go no one does anything with the name's band. I prefer less albuns than hundreads of versions of the same band.

See what happens with Queensriche. It is true that was in court but i agree with the decision. Operation Mindcrime for one side and the remain Queensriche legacy for the other. Nice for everyone and clear for the fans. Bravo.

Perhaps the logic with L.A. Guns should be the same. Cock and louded for one side and L.A. Guns for the other. Or the old Hollywood Roses name, who knows. To much L.A. guns versions and the sensations that in each one of them something is lost.

The music is never bad. The work is ever interesting but concerts and albuns are just a mess, with one or two original members and the rest, musicians that much of the times no one knows national speaking.  Crazy stuff man, and not a cool carma after all.

Tracii Guns and Phill Lewis are great musicians. But also Cripps, Riley, Nickels and even Adam Hamilton who play bass in the band (2001/2007), and it is proved that the classic line up is better in a group with 35 diferent members, Man, almoust 3 dozen from 1983 to 2016.

I have albums from all LA Guns re-encarnations. I like always the music and videos. I never see them in concert but live it is good. Probably i will buy also this one with no problems. But, in real i prefer that old L.A. Guns. Man, what four albuns.  what a 5 guys band. Missed them all. And that is the real truth.

We miss Motorhead... (A top 11 tribute)

A great band, with lots of good guitar players, cool drummers, a hot mojo and one of the best frontman in the world. It is impossible not to like of Motorhead but Lemmy was a figure so big of Rock an Roll, that everybody now him and respect the bass player and also the band.

The legend pass away and the band ended. Dee is with the Scorpions and Phill have is All Star Band. It was 41 years of sex, drugs and rock with a legacy of musics like "Ace of Spades". The future, who nows? Maybe an album with guest vocals or a movie, originals or versions, last or old members. With so much time in active probably there's material that the fans never saw.

And Lemmy have a son. He is also a musician and with will be interesting to see him sing in Motherhead the songs that made is father famous or a collaboration like Jason Boham with LZ. With technology like the one in XXI century even a virtual Lemmy is possible like that famous music by Nat King Cole and is daughter.

But for now, the members of the band and also part of the wolrld is still in shock. Probably it will be several years up until some thing will be made with the name of Motorhead, by former members os the publishing company. It´s to soon for a "best off", live or something else. Lemmy was Lemmy, and is name and band is to be treated very good.

For now and while whe wait let´s hear the music. "Motorhead", No voices in the sky", "Going to Brazil", "Hellraiser", "Bomber", "Eat the rich", "Ramones" or "Overkill", are only a few of hundreads of songs that the band have. And the best way of honor a music group and is legacy, will  allways be what they made. Cheers and a botle of Jack Daniels with Coca-Cola.

Don't like it? Get use to it...

Personally i don't care if will be Axl Rose or other rock star to be the frontman of Ac/Dc for the rest of the tour. I think Rose is the vocals of Guns and Roses and Johnson is the one in the australian band. But when there's an health problem that lives Ac/Dc without voice, someone was to do it. So, why not Axl Rose? For Young and company it looks there's no doubts. Rose is the best frontman and rock star to do it. Check the news above:

One of the reasons is, of course, advertising. Since Guns and Roses said in March that 2 shows in Vegas more 2 in Coachella, there´s not a single day without Axl and the possible formation of GnR, in  twitter, facebook or rock publication. The one from today: http://loudwire.com/speculation-guns-n-roses-tweet-drum-sticks/

My favourite is Airborne frontman Joel O'Keeffe and allways will be. It is a "little" rock star from a very good band (see video above). An Australian friend from Ac/Dc, with a sound like the gods of rock, and with the energy of a vulcano. Great to them. But Axl is from GnR. And Young now that a very famous vocals will be a garantee to the sucess of at least the American Tour. O'Keefe no. And everybody who is related to music industry (not the fans or the crap journalists who hate Axl Rose) knows the price of canceled shown and returned tickets. Also Brian and that's why he talks so little about this subject.

But Axl is crazy, dosn't respect the fans, is always late, etc, etc. Is he? Are we talking about the 2016 Rose or the 1992 one? Does any one thinks that Angus Young hould tolerate that? Or the actual Slash or Duff? I don't think so. Besides the last years had seen a diferente Rose. Not in everything: Is still a good song written and a fine producer and we doesn´t need Ac/Dc. Is the front man of Guns and Roses, with Slash and Duff. But with no vocals Ac/Dc need Rose. And if we is wants to help the australian band for me just fine. Like it was with O'Keeffe, Vince, Tyler, Hagar or any good frontman who as able to make the voice for Ac/Dc complete the tour (sorry, no Krocus fan). And the rest is shit crap.

Ah, maybe Young and Co heard to this. It is good enought to make the crowd sing. And if so, with a Rose that in this GnR version filled arenas,  imagine with Ac/Dc. And if Ac/Dc play with Guns and Roses as Special Guests? Hum, never think about it. But the promoters, Young, Axl and other people think. And it is possible that they have like the ideia. So, no confirmation about Rose in Ac/Dc, and April is comming with four GnR shows. God to me. With the australian band better. If doesn't happen, still nice the Guns shows and the dates of Ac/Dc with someone on vocals. Mistery is cool, sell news and give a chance to people talk. And Rock is all about it.

The Dead Daisies

One of the most interesting projects of this days. Lots of good musicians. Great sound. The key is rotation. But with the hard rock always on the horizon. Welcome to The Dead Daises. No Gene, the Rock is not dead after all. And you now it because the band tour with Kiss.

Formed in 2012 this Australian/American band have been made by top rock members. Today the line up is: David Lowy, Doug Aldrich, Marco Mendonza, John Coraby and Brian Tichy. Fortus and Dizzy Reed are out because of Guns and Roses. But the new album is been recorded in Nashville (it is fashionable this days), and will be launch by SPV late this year. Devil out of Time is the first music from him.
